Baby books are important for our children's development. We should begin reading to our children as soon as they are born, if not before! Sometimes, however, we just don't know which books are appropriate as our babies grow into toddlers and then become school-aged. The following book recommendations will help you choose some great books to enjoy with your child.
Infant Book Recommendations
Should you read to your infant even though she really doesn't seem to understand anything you are saying? Absolutely! As you read and talk to your newborn, you are modeling the basis of communication and giving her lessons in language. It is so important for you to do this. Even though her little eyes might cross as she attempts to focus on the pages of a book during the first few weeks of her life, you are instilling a life-long love and fascination with books. Infants love black, white, and red objects, so look for books that mainly feature these colors for the first few weeks.
Baby Einstein Books offers a great selection for babies of all ages.
Ages Three Months and Up Book Recommendations
As your little on grows, he'll discover the world of colors. No longer will black, white, and red hold his attention. He'll want to look at brightly colored objects and books. He'll also love touching pages with different textures and lifting flaps to see what is hidden underneath. He may be fascinated with books about animals and/or other babies, and he may love learning about the ABCs. Some great book recommendations include the following:
